There is no greater feeling than giving to meet the needs of someone else’s life. Not giving because of what you want in return or because of a sense of obligation, but freely giving your time, talents and treasures to be a blessing to someone else. It’s incredible how we managed to raise KSH80,000 in less than a month and honestly this really made my heart melt and couldn’t stop but think of how amazing and giving the CCS Kenya team is. Getting a group of guys across every age group who have so much passion in changing lives is extremely commendable. 🙂
When we arrived at Emmanuel Rescue center, we met with the lady who has been housing the young kids and you could tell how happy and excited she was to see us. From the money we raised, we brought with us loads of food stuff from cereals, to flour, bathing soaps, toothbrushes, school books etc and the balance was handed over to her in cash. She later on mentioned to one of the ladies who has also been actively involved with her rescue center that we arrived at the perfect time since they had already ran out out of food and didn’t know where to get any for the coming week. Isn’t it amazing how God works miracles?
Some of these kids we’re abandoned by their parents and left outside the home, others are victims of the PEV (Post election violence) more reason why we need to maintain peace and unity during this election period and others are orphaned. Despite their circumstances, these kids have managed to sail through and are so full of energy, God fearing and so positive about life. They are also very smart!
Looking back, I can now say, wow, the kids at least had something to celebrate during the long weekend. You should have seen the look on their faces. Filled with so much joy, happiness, gratitude and love.
Know what? When I am having a bad day, even if I don’t always feel like it, I try to think of something that I can do for someone else. I am not trying to score brownie points with God but if I can be a blessing in someone else’s life, it takes my focus off of problems and points me towards praise.
My dream had always been to get together with a group of people and do something positive and impactful in the community and meeting this group of guys who are so passionate and follow through with their promises and words is indeed amazing. I’m also working with Jenga Keja where we basically build homes from the group up for impoverished families in the slums and to be honest, being part of this life changing activities changed my life. Not temporarily, but FOR GOOD.
God bless each and everyone who came through this day. 🙂 🙂 It was such a success!
Thanks for reading guys. 🙂 Xo
